the theme of picked for my website is that normal 2010 theme, the one that comes with WordPress. Even so I cannot seem to discover a way to turn into a static page that I would like the very first web page to be.

Yes. Below Settings / Reading, modify “Front Page Displays” to “A static web page” and then select which web page you want to present.

Question by Terry: need help with wordpress theme?
Hiya I need some help with a wordpress theme as im trying to change the color of both the left and right sidebar to another color or background image but could not figure out how despite looking through the css file several times

Well it’s not in the CSS, It’s pretty entertaining how the designer pulled that off. It’s a gif image

or main.gif in your theme it’s a 1 pixel line of the colors to the left and right. Good luck!

hi. i added a subfolder called ‘test’, installed wordpress, and made a theme.
now i want to get that theme and put it onto my actual site. is there a way i can save it then upload it ?

Themes get installed in the themes folder. So you have to have all of the theme files saved in a folder – should be at least 5 files – name the folder whatever you want and upload the whole folder to the test/wp-content/themes/ folder.
Then you go into the wordpress admin, under Appearance/ Themes and activate your theme.

whenever i click on the available templates under the presentation tab on my wordpress blog, all it does is show me a sample, it doesnt change anything! i need a step by step “tutorial” on how to chnage my theme! please!
